There are many things you can do in Musanze including the following:-

Visit to to the Gorillas - A must.  This is a rare opportunity for you to see the mountain gorillas face to face.
If you email Isaac as soon as possible before your visit they can arrange passes for you.  You will need to provide them with scanned copies of your passport. Transport to and from the park can also be arranged on request.

Gorilla permits in Uganda are considerably cheaper than in Rwanda and can be arranged by contacting Isaac who can make all the necessary arrangements for your visit.  See 'About us' page for more details.


Visit to Lakes Ruhondo and Burera -  by taxi or by motorcycle. Accompanied if desired.  Ask for further details.

Visit to a local Cultural Centre - 7KM away to see local banana beer brewing, weaving, jewellery making, cultivating etc.  Ask for further details.

Hike up the volcanoes - Bisoke (3,711m) or Karisimbi (4507m - overnight stay required) - Prices vary -  which one you would like to do for more information.

Hike to Dian Fosseys grave and visit the Dian Fossey Museum in town. Ask for further details.

Visit the Golden Monkeys - Further details on request.

Visit to a local school - This can be pre-arranged  during term times by Isaac if you notify him when you are booking your stay.

Getting around is easy -  Motos, taxis, or buses can be used.  Isaac can help you to organise this during your stay.  Car Hire or Car with driver can be arranged by Isaac.  Email for further details info@volcanoviewrw.com

Visit a local wool weaving co-operative exporting Marino wool.

Tour of the local town - Either a walk or a drive.  Includes visits to the two markets, local restaurants and bars. Accompanied if desired.  Ask for further details.  

Guided walk to Remera (a local mountain overlooking the lakes) and back.  We go up in a taxi or on the motorcycle and walk back down 9KM.   Isaac will accompany you for a small fee if desired.

Visit Inshuti Art and Cultural centre

Guided walk to a local waterfall and spring - Isaac can take you here.  Please ask for more details.

Visit to Rosemary Carrs Orphanage - Approx. 10,000 Rwf entrance fee plus transport - 45 mins drive away.

Visit to Gisenyi by Lake Kivu -  Isaac can help you to organise this.

Boat trip to Ruhondo Beach Hotel (no beach!) but a nice place for a day out. 

Visit to the hot springs in Gisenyi. 

Visit to a local beach bar in Gisenyi and have a swim.

Akagera National Park - Situated in the East of the country - an opportunity for a full day safari where you can see many birds mammals and reptiles in their natural habitat.  Transport can be arranged.  Email info@volcanoviewrw.com for more details.

Nyungwe National Park - Situated in the South-West of the country where you can see the beautiful tea plantations and go Chimpanzee trekking or see the Colobus monkeys.  You can do many nature walks and see 13 different primate species, 300 different bird species and 250 different kinds of trees and many different orchids.  Email for further details.
